Chile's Antitrust Agency Investigates Supermarkets, Raids Offices
SANTIAGO (Dow Jones)--Chile's antitrust agency is investigating the country's largest supermarket chains for alleged unfair practices and it authorized police raids at several retailers' offices, the agency known locally as the FNE said Wednesday.
The supermarkets under investigation are Cencosud SA's (CENCOSUD.SN) Jumbo chain, Walmart's (WMT) Lider chain, SACI Falabella's (FALABELLA.SN) Tottus chain and the Unimarc chain, the FNE said.
The antitrust court and an appeals court authorized the raids in which computers were seized, the FNE said in a statement.
A Cencosud official said some computers had been seized, but declined to comment on the investigation on the grounds that the company hasn't been informed of the reason for the investigation.
