Relatives of babies hospitalized in the Central Hospital of San Cristóbal assured that the contamination of the intensive care and newborn areas is responsible for the death of four pediatric patients last weekend.
"The checkpoint is very contaminated, children die from these bacteria. They die because of a strike and it turns out that they are the same bacteria, "said Marbella Sierra, who was waiting for information from her son who was hospitalized for one month and five days.
Franyer Rondón, father of another hospitalized baby, pointed out that the main cause of death for children is bacteria in contaminated areas. "This weekend even four children died," he added.
There are containers crammed with medical waste on the outskirts. Since last Tuesday, the landfill of San Josecito, south of San Cristóbal, where 10 municipalities dispose of garbage, is closed due to damage to the only terracing machine.
