The gang from the old Newsweek struck again
We were subscribers of Newsweek in 2008. Our revolt started after the Iowa caucuses with the "coronation issue" - that I was holding as the results of the New Hampshire came in.
There was non stop attack on both the Clintons, even after Hillary bowed out.
Jon Meacham, who was the editor, was a guest on Jon Stewart. He came to promote a book of his on faith (or something like that). And here he enters the stage and declaring: Hillary!. I have no idea what he was trying to convey. I wonder whether he thought the crowd would roll over laughing the way Ted Cruz now says Biden!
I turned off the TV. Did not watch much of Jon Stewart after that.
Than there was Jonathan Alter who "confessed" of always feeling like belonging to a "step generation" since he was born in the '50s, not the '40s like... well, the Clintons. He wrote a column with a tirade against the baby boomers who did not accomplish anything, did not contribute to music, or plays, or literature...
I actually replied on the pages. I consider us, the older baby boomers to belong to the Sputnik Generation. We were encouraged to study math and science. Many of us proceeded to graduate schools to study biology and physics and chemistry and engineering. In biomedical research we developed new approaches to treat cancer, approaches which keeps Jonathan Alter alive today.
The funds from the federal government for these studies were cut when Alter's generation elected Reagan and his cronies who expressed contempt for academia.
Earlier this week, another member of the Newsweek gang - Even Thomas - had an op-ed in... the WSJ where he compared Hillary to Nixon. Secretive, enemy list... I did not read past the first few paragraphs.
Would be interesting if the anti Hillary groups here would look to an op-ed in the WSJ to provide them with ammunition..
