Hillary Clinton is opposed to a critical piece of the Obama administration's Trans-Pacific Partnership, which would give corporations the right to sue sovereign nations over laws or regulations that could potentially curb their profits.
The policy position is contained in her book Hard Choices, and was confirmed to HuffPost by a spokesperson for her presidential campaign. Obama and congressional Democrats are locked in a bitter public feud over TPP -- a deal between 12 Pacific nations -- with much of the controversy derived from concerns it will undermine regulatory standards.

POSTED IN THE HILLARY CLINTON ROOM.

(19,537 posts)... shouldn't she? And come out NOW when she could use her power of persuasion of those other Democrats in congress to do so who would work with her future administration.
If she doesn't push to stop TPP, then the ability for congress to strike down this provision from the TPP bill won't be available, and they won't be able to fix the bill to make it something that she might support. If she doesn't want to stop Fast Track, then I think many of us could interpret that her earlier statements against the ISDS provision of TPP aren't really meaningful, and something she wouldn't (and is not currently) backing up with real action to stop. And that would be one more example of many recent Democratic Party presidents and other politicians making promises that they aren't prepared to keep.

(19,537 posts)But I think in her interest, I do think she could get a lot more support from Democrats if she would come out and say she wants to have the Fast Track bill struck down so that it can back up her earlier words of being concerned with ISDS which I and many other Democrats share her stated concern about. So I use this as a positive point of feedback if you all who support her come out and suggest that she do this to help get more support for her as someone who walks the walk in addition to talking the talk on the campaign trail. And walking the walk in the way I would personally like and get me more inclined to vote for as our nominee too.

(32,611 posts)I don't know if anyone has explained to you that many, many HRC supporters left DU after the 2008 primary. Among other things they were tired of being labeled racist. Many of those posters had spent their lives in advocacy work for minorities and women and it was just too much to take.
Also, it was obvious that some of DU's most prolific bullies simply had problems with strong women and used the primary to promote their MRA (men only) agenda. They are still here and sexism is still allowed in the TOS.
The only reason I stayed was because I knew that Hillary would.

(71,265 posts)I read DU during the time and decided not to come back.
I was hrhjustin in 2001 but lost my password in 2005.
Was reading du on and off. Came back in 2012 but several months latter found my password in an old noyebook. Lol funny how life is. I stuck with this account.
Yes 2008 was hard on DU and Hillary supporters.
Many ugly and untrue things were said.
I am glad you stayed.
