Just sent this letter to Stephanie Miller

I don't write you very often but I feel I need to take the time to write you since you are reading letters from your listeners. You know I'm a loyal fan of yours and I love you to death. You were there for me when I came out to my facebook family as well as certain members of my own family. You were there for me when my boyfriend of ten years broke up for me. I will never forget the shout out you gave to me before you went on Christmas break one year.

That being said, I must say something that I know is going to upset a lot of people who had been pulling for me. I first started out being in support of Bernie Sanders. I really liked his message for years. Then of course we had that incident in which the two black lives matter protesters interrupted. As you know I have been professionally black since 1973. The issues which affect me does not affect a lot of my fellow liberals. When I saw the way a lot of Bernie Sanders supporters started reacting to people of color. It gave me a serious wake up call.

I'm in my early forties right now Stephanie so a lot of the issues that matter to millennials don't matter to me as much. I am starting to focus on issues that will matter to me as I start getting ready to enter my fifties and god forbid my sixties and if I'm lucky my seventies. I am seeing how the police treat people who look like me. We are being killed more than any race of people. I don't see Senator Sanders addressing that. Every time I see Senator Sanders on television its always the economic stuff . That is good but that's not addressing the issues that are a concern to me. I have been the victim of racial attacks all my life. I still get called the n word by people who are conservatives and much to my horror by people who are liberals.

I'm told to shut my mouth. I'm told to that my opinion doesn't mean jack crap. If I'm not in the Bernie Camp, I'm racist. I just can't deal with this any more. I can't post pro Hillary articles on my own pages with out my friends jumping down my grill saying that I'm wrong. Saying that this article is out of context or that I'm wrong for posting this. People want to control me like I'm some kind of slave that I have no right to free speech on my own facebook page. I don't mind it when your listeners want to be my friend. I welcome that but what I have a problem with and now both sides are starting to force their views on me is when they tell me what I can and can't say on my own page.

PLEASE TELL THEM TO LAY OFF OF ME

For the love of god. It's turning me off from politics and its making me not want to tune into your show. I don't want to do that Steph but please address these concerns this week as the primary season goes on. I have lost friends over this issue and I don't want to lose anymore but my patience is wearing very thin.

I believe these are fundamental personal characteristics of a Democrat and part of our set of core values.

These values attract us to the Democratic Party.

Republicans believe it is a "dog-eat-dog" world, and stress social Darwinism - under the guise of rigid judgmental Christianity.

I hear you!

I don't have to be you, I can't be you! I just have to understand and empathize! I have to imagine being you - and how I would want to be treated.

I'm afraid imagining you with a little bit more money doesn't quite solve this and so many other issues! Just my opinion.

7. As a Bernie Supporter

I would like to tell you Hon that most of us Bernie Supporters are not like that. And if HRC is the one nominated, most of us will vote for her. Please know that whomever is doing that is *not* listening to Bernie's message who is very open about *not* getting into dirty politics, which is one of the things I like most about him.

Tell those jerks true Bernie supporters like me are wanting to tell them to knock it the hell off, true Bernie supporters should never treat our fellow Americans nor anyone like that!

I tuned out because of "The Mooks". They remind me too much of the crap I see here at DU, I don't need to waste bandwidth trying to stream the hate on the radio as well. "The Mooks" came down with a serious case of ODS, so I'm willing to bet they jumped on the BS bandwagon long before he even announced.

She is totally frustrated with the level of venom coming out of the 2 sides (although we really know which side is really down and dirty). She has preached each day for civility between the Bernie and Hillary camps, she even had Thom Hartman on (who is an unabashed BS supporter) and they both asked their listeners to dial it back. I don't know how much Step can do for your situation. But in any event I wish you all the best. Primary season is just getting underway. It'll be a few months before the nastiness begins to go away between progressives, but then you 'll need to gird your loins for the General Election. If you think it's nasty now....just wait, no matter who our candidate may be.
