‘BLACK LIVES MATTER’: Hillary Clinton addresses nation’s racial inequality in meeting with South Carolina Democrats

WASHINGTON — Hillary Clinton declared that "black lives matter" in South Carolina Thursday, as she repeatedly stressed that endemic racism must be tackled by government.

"This is not just a slogan, this should be a guiding principle," she told a gathering of 400 local Democrats, many of them mayors and many of them African-American. "We have to also acknowledge we have some serious problems with race and justice and systemic racism which unfortunately is all too often present."

Clinton argued that America has improved in its race relations — but not enough — and drew an implicit contrast with primary rival and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has focused on class inequality much more than racial inequality in his campaign.

"Anyone who says we don't have to make any more progress is blind to what we need to do to deal with race and justice questions," she declared to cheers. "I also believe that economic inequality is a symptom of racism, it is not the only reason for racism. Racism is much deeper."

... well ... I guess one of my pet issues as a Democrat is that we tend to end up fighting each other more than talking ... we lose site of who the real enemy is ... and the media uses it to distract everyone.

And then we get fools running around saying that they won't vote for Hillary is she is the nominee, or that the Dems are the same as the GOP ... and while the GOP stays on message (now to be fair, that's easy for them, their message hasn't changed in 20 years really) ... we end up being all over the map, fighting them with one hand, while fighting "us" with the other.

But I hear you ... the recent "discussions" have not been about abstract policy, strategy, tactics ... the recent discussion has been much more personal, more raw ... and sadly some still are not figuring that out.

I'm just hoping we figure out how we as Democrats will make this issue a central theme, so that (a) everyone understands the gravity behind it, and (b) our GE candidate wins, and ends up in a position to really do something.

This news & the breakdown of polling #'s today is more consistant with what my Ready for Hillary group is saying.
They have other sources for our stats. This is consistant.

I can't imagine Hillary making a blanket statement as to BLM & not adressing the critical & glaring meaning behind the slogan.
This is what Hillary excels at. No scratch the surface stuff with her. She WILL go directly into the center of hell of the matter & pull it apart until it is changed & resolved.

This is why I love & respect Sec Clinton.
