When the official Repuglican nominee is announced

Actually, I think all of the "Obama Bad" nonsense in GD has kept us BOG members pretty limber ... we end up debating right wing attacks and left wing attacks which are on the SAME topic.

My prediction is this ...

Sometime around May or June ... it will be very clear that the GE is about Obama versus Romney. Initially, the anti-Obama folks in GD will burst forward in a last gasp attempt to discourage the rest of DU. That will fail miserably.

And all of a sudden, GD will become the BOG. It will be come a refutation of all of the insane lies that the GOP will be screaming. Claims that Obama isn't liberal enough will be seen as silly compared to the endless right wing screams that he is a socialist.

In a sense, the arguments that he needs to be more liberal will only accentuate how insane the GOP has become. The comparisons will go from abstract, to concrete.

7. The date can't come soon enough

I can think of about 30 or so members that I would love to see on a purge list for the anti-Obama crap they constantly spout.

8. I have to admit

I am less than hopeful that the 'election mode' rules will be enforced.

I registered here at the time I did because I was assured (by the person who recommended this site) that the Obama bashing would cease as the lead-up to the election came closer.

However, a recent statement by Skinner (on another topic entirely) said: "As the Admin on the new DU, It is not my job to 'correct' a jury decision ..."

That leads me to believe that alerts on Obama-bashers during 'election mode' will go to a jury - and if jurors allow such posts to stand, Skinner will not intervene. The bashers represent a large portion of DU posters right now, and I don't think the Admins are going to want to 'purge' the site of that many people.

I hope I am wrong - but I suspect the Admins' current hands-off attitude will result in "the community has spoken via the juries, and we will not interfere with their decisions".

Time will tell.
