Hi computer group. Q: if google docs still works for us, and the aps we use to get to them do too,

Does that mean we’ve not been affected by the announced change to ‘backup and sync’? Or does it mean that the change is still coming, just didn’t happen on March 12 as announced?

I’ve come to rely on google docs for so much. Been slowly exporting files but was dreading the 12th and all my work of so many years vanishing. It hasn’t yet!

Hopeful, thankful, aloha

However it was just a discontinuation of the file syncing feature for desktops. It was replaced with a new one called backup and sync.

From the perspective of an end user in a situation where you use it simply for your files there is very little difference.

The big difference is really on the business side of file syncing.

Not to worry though your files will be fine you just need the new backup software if you used the file syncing feature on your desktop to be able to use it pretty much just how you were previously.

We use it for work schedules, forms, and training information, mostly.

Hoping we can keep using as is because it damn useful and now, essential really.

We don’t have a single desktop we’d want to back up to anyway.

On my ipad I see several sheets and google docs updates I’m inclined to skip!

Thanks for chiming in. Nice to meet you. I appreciate your thoughts. Aloha.

To enable more granular file control.

For a situation like you are describing there should be very little if any change. The only case where it would affect you is if you were actually storing the files on the individual computers.

If you are working from drive then you shouldn't see any real change at all.

We used to send excel files back and forth all the time, and now just use sheets. It's immensely helpful, much like your information!

I so appreciate it. Aloha nui loa.
