Adobe Flash

I've been using Firefox browser due to recurrent problems with Google Chrome. Now of course I have a recurrent problem with Adobe Flash videos which are blocked by Firefox. What can I replace Adobe Flash with? Keep in mind I'm more computer savvy than some but less computer savvy than others. Thanks!

Make sure your Firefox and Flash is upgraded to the latest version.

Many websites which used flash in the past now can use HTML5 support for which is in the latest browsers

There was a security vulnerability in versions prior to 18.0.0.209 (?) serious enough that Mozilla completely blocked Flash content. If you have the latest version, it should work in FireFox (at least it does for me on Windows7HP).

I was wondering if I should just uninstall and start over, or just do update. Its really getting me po'd for all the times it hangs up and keeps asking if I want to stop script. I keep clicking stop to undo getting hung up on loading a page.

So should I uninstall Flash and start over?

BTW, I'm using Vista OS and Firefox Browser.

On your suggestion, I just uninstalled flash (version 18) then reinstalled updated version--which BTW, I already had installed. Uninstalling and reloading did absolutely nothing.

I'm still getting (#!&!#*) warning that adobe flash is busy requiring me to click stop/continue tab which frees it up--clicking on stop. But its practically every change of a page it hangs up on me that I have to go through this f'ing process.

Is there any option at this point to solve this problem? Or will we have to wait for Adobe to fix it? I'm going to check with someone at cybertechhelp.com to see if someone there has an answer. In the meantime, I will check back later to see if there is update on this. And if anyone else is having this same issue, I'm sorry you have to go through this too.

I just posted a comment in the Adobe forum and apparently Adobe is aware of this problem. I'm not the only one dealing with this. Many others have same issue with Flash. A Mod was asking a poster when and where this happens-attempting to troubleshoot the issue. So I just added my 2-cents on my constant hair pulling from constant plugin crashing events. One dude has gone through this for FIVE MONTHS! So who knows when we'll see a solution to this.

Have been for months. Sometimes it locks up FF completely. I have the latest FF and flash player. Win7 is my OS, with all the updates applied. It has been very frustrating. I also have similar problems when using IE too.

I'm using Firefox and here on DU it was freezing every 10 seconds. I unchecked the add-on box and its not freezing up. Wowow. I'm happy. This plugin problem has dogged me for a month. My nightmare is over.

If you have Firefox, do this:

Go to menu and click on add-on.
Click on plugins on left side of page
Go to Shockwave flash and click "options"
You should get page that has check mark box
Uncheck it then close out hitting circle icon.
And Wa-la.
You've just ended your flash freeze-up problem.
I can't be sure what options says since its not showing after shutting it off, but click anything that looks like it allows flash to be disabled.

Cheers

Flash problem I was advised to uninstall it and load Silverlight, since it was already in my Win7 list of options, I did just that and now I can't watch anything on MSNBC or Comedy Central, what's up with that? Do I need to reinstall Adobe Flash for those sites? I had been prompted to updates but was skeptical about doing that. Maybe it was an error on my part to do that.

Help, please.

On Edit:

Never mind. I just reinstalled Adobe Flash, things are working better, also did disk cleanup, that is something I usually do often but have spaced out on doing it for a spell.

Thanks anyway.
