And a payment plan where the savings, of heat pumps vs. oil heating, are used to pay off the cost of installing the pump for everyone else in Atlantic Canada. Says carbon pricing has not resulted in enough people converting away from oil. Some big oil people are going to be very mad. Go Trudeau.

(119,051 posts)North of Toronto and it works fine. Halifax is not that much warmer then Ottawa. Then again that might just be because Ottawa is a dry cold while Halifax is a wet cold.

(10,108 posts)were told that Calgary was too cold, they lost efficiency in the winter. Of course we can see -20c - -40c for weeks at at time.

(119,051 posts)because of Climate Change. I thought they had Chinooks in Calgary that kept them warmer than one would think? I was out west one winter. It was not that cold. Then again I was snow-shoeing up to Lake Agnes or telemarking to Skoki Lodge. Or skiing. I get over heated really fast with any exertion. I recall going up Deception Pass on the way to Skoki Lodge and throwing off my layers as I heated up (there was no stopping to rest as it was too steep to stop). When I hit the top I was in a wet TShirt only and I immediately froze as I stopped. My twin brother quickly arrived with all my layers of clothing. Fun times.

(10,108 posts)but now I am getting hot summers like we have in the Okanagan. The winter is not however, we still get very cold weather, actually last year we had more cold and less snow than normal. Yes we go up and down in the temp during the winter, especially here during Chinooks that come through (the city counts on them to melt snow so they are terrible clearing streets) but that does not mean it is warmer winters. Here we are in October and we are -15c so no.
