Insects are going out fast, and bird species are heavily dependent on insects as a food source. Along with that, suitable bird habitat is shrinking. Though there is no strong indication of a DDT-level effect on bird species yet, PFASs could be just one more nail in the coffin of a rapidly disappearing variety and numbers of birds.
