Gov. Scott Walker is scheduled to visit Sturtevant on Monday to sign a bill that provides nearly $3 billion in incentives to lure Foxconn Technology Group to build a massive manufacturing plant in Racine County.
Walker plans to sign the legislation, called the Wisconn Valley Special Session Bill, at 2:30 p.m. at Gateway Technical College.
The deal would pay up to $2.85 billion in cash to Foxconn to subsidize construction of a plant projected to cost up to $10 billion and eventually employ as many as 13,000 people. It also eases environmental rules for construction. If could be the largest incentive package for a foreign company in U.S. history.
Foxconn, based in Taiwan, plans to produce flat-panel displays used in televisions, computers and cell phones.
