None of them- NONE- will claim ownership of this.

This is so obviously ALEC it isn't even funny. This is ALEC not wanting us to know when we are being ALEC'd and the Republicans doing as they are told.

THIS is what the dumbasses voted for who put these worse-than-worthless clowns in office. Just look at Nygren and Darling sitting there- I may now hate them as much as I hate spiteful little prick Robin Vos and Scott Kevin Walker himself.

Too little, too late, I know. But you know what? Walker doesn't give a fuck what people in Wisconsin think now. He is playing to Iowans, and South Carolinians, and whatever people from New Hampshire are called.

Heinous and bald-faced dictatorial act. Plus, Alberta Darling is closing in on being as horrid and hateful as the Weasel. I weep for my Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Attorney General: GOP move to block public records access a step in 'wrong direction'

Attorney General Brad Schimel

Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel on Friday voiced his opposition to sweeping changes to the state's open records laws passed by Republicans on the Legislature's budget committee late Thursday night.

"Transparency is the cornerstone of democracy and the provisions in the Budget Bill limiting access to public records move Wisconsin in the wrong direction," Schimel said in an email.

Last month, Schimel, a Republican, launched an Office of Open Government in an effort to increase openness and transparency with regard to government records.

During the Joint Finance Committee's debate on the proposal, Sen. Jon Erpenbach, D-Middleton, asked committee co-chairman Rep. John Nygren, R-Marinette, whether Schimel had seen or signed off on the committee's changes.

"I can't speak to that," Nygren responded....

Our View: The Wisconsin Republican Party: Corruption, cronyism, and sleaze

http://www.lakelandtimes.com/main.asp?SectionID=10&SubSectionID=68&ArticleID=25113

As it stands, the Thursday night, pre-holiday attempt to eviscerate the state’s open records laws is a political calamity for the Republicans — there’s no way this outrage won’t damage the GOP brand — but unless it’s pulled from the budget it will become a policy travesty that will do far more harm to the very foundation of democracy.

It is nothing less than the attempted murder of honest government, and the perpetrators of it deserve the political equivalent of the death sentence: recall. To that end, the co-chairs of the Joint Finance Committee, Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) and Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette), need to come clean and tell the world who authored this attack on democratic principles.

If they won’t, they need to be recalled.................

one thing. This, however, is a huge effing deal. Don't get me wrong- the UW system stuff was and is huge (I am a UW alum and employee). This, however, was an attempt at fascism. People throw that term around far too loosely in my opinion, much as they throw around Hitler comparisons. But attempting to eliminate the ability of a governed people to examine their own government? If that's not fascism I don't know what is! We must find out who did this. Again, I have very little doubt that the trail will lead directly to someone with the initials S.K.W.
