Homeless population in King County climbs to over 16,000

New numbers show that on an given night there are 16,385 people experiencing homelessness in King County, or 23% more than two years ago.

The data comes from the point-in-time count done over 12 days in January and February, when staff from the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) and 130 volunteers interviewed people at 19 urban, suburban and rural locations.

It's a familiar story, but with bigger numbers than before.

-snip-

Of the 16,385 homeless people, 60% were unsheltered, according to the new data. That was three percentage points higher than in 2022.

The economy has been pretty good the last two years.

Has TX been shipping undocs that way? Is Seattle failing the mentally unwell?

I dont understand why this problem keeps growing like it does.

Whoever figures out this problem needs to go on Mount Rushmore!
