Twitter is reportedly giving up its Seattle office, allowing what remains of its Puget Sound-area workforce to work from home.
The New York Times reported Thursday that the social media company faces eviction after not paying rent for the two floors it occupies in the Century Square tower in downtown Seattle, citing people familiar with the matter. The news comes not long after the Times reported that the company, under orders from its new owner Elon Musk, stopped paying rent for its San Francisco headquarters and other global offices.
Zoë Schiffer, managing editor for tech news site Platformer, reported via Twitter on Thursday that the company was closing its Seattle office and asking employees to work from home, citing an internal email.
JLL, the brokerage firm for Century Square, confirmed in November that Twitter still occupied space in the tower. It has not responded to requests for comment on Twitter leaving the space.
