Tens of thousands without power as strong winds hit western Washington

Power was knocked out to more than 91,000 people across western Washington Monday morning as a weather system brought gusty winds to the region.

Utility companies and first responders across the Puget Sound region reported downed trees on power lines and over roads Monday morning. Wind gusts as high as 50 mph were reported along the coast and in coms places over the northwest interior.

Heavy rain and recent snowmelt have also saturated the soil, leading to an increased threat of landslides across western Washington. In addition to landslides, a Flood Watch was issued for most of western Washington through Wednesday morning as several more rounds of rain are expected to move into the region this week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said rivers, creeks, stream and other low-lying and flood-prone areas across the region may flood due to excessive runoff, melting snow and more rain in the forecast. A Flood Warning is in effect for the Skokomish River at Potlatch in Mason County until further notice.

I went without power for 2 weeks during Sandy and I know how miserable it can be.
