Drivers should heed no parking signs on US 2 near Stevens Pass, or risk a tow

Stevens Pass is a popular place right now, so popular that its more than 2,800 parking spaces fill up fast. When that happens, a number of drivers give up on the lots and park along US 2.

“No, no that’s very dangerous. I don’t suggest that because it’s not only not safe, it is really not recommended,” said Antu Sarkar, who rode up with a friend, from Bellevue.

“There’s a large sign on the way up! There were 1-foot letters that say no parking on the side of the road,” said Fabio Marshall, who said he took his very first ski lesson at Stevens Pass in the 1970s and he’s been coming back, ever since.

“I think they should be towed there. Not safe out there at all,” said Marshall. "That (parking along the highway) was a problem in the early 2000s so it’s not a new problem."
