Leaders of the campaign to recall Seattle City Councilwoman Kshama Sawant are accusing their opponents of harassment as they try to gather signatures.
A volunteer says a petition was ripped from her hands, and surveillance video the campaign shared with KIRO 7 shows a man ripping a large Recall Sawant sign from a fence.
When the campaign sent out postage paid envelopes with petitions to sign, they got at least 200 back filled with anything but.
Recall Sawant campaign manager Henry Bridger says some envelopes contained feces.

(95,247 posts)Nor do I think much of recall efforts.
She won election. She holds office for the term.
I understand in places law allows them, but there are any number of things that are legal I do not approve of.

(107,985 posts)What's driving the recall is her behavior since the election. We're not like California where anyone can be recalled.
To recall a politician, you have to meet a high bar For example, you need evidence that the politician has done something illegal, like taken a bribe.
Its not to get rid of a politician you dont like, Spitzer points out.
And, there are several steps you have to take to get a recall on the ballot. You have to gather signatures and, before you can even do that, you have to get a judge to sign off on it.
The majority of recall petitions in this state are thrown out by the courts.
Per Sawant the court process has already been done.
