Related: About this forumObservations from Downtown Charlottesville today.
There are media trucks everywhere. They are parked in all the loading zones and many of the other on street parking spaces. Delivery drivers are having a tough time.
There are lots of people with video cameras wandering around with no clear purpose. I guess they are hoping to happen on to something.
Clusters of media are at several places that I saw and perhaps others.
At Emancipation park (formerly Lee Park) where there is a sign declaring it Heyer Park, with the media outnumbering non-media four to one.
At the police station there were several media groups with lights and cameras and only a lone police officer to keep them company. There were some of the bicycle rack barricades making a walkway around the building. This is near the spot where Kessler tried to have a news conference.
Fourth street is blocked on both sides of main. There is an area with flowers and messages chalked on the bricks which is surrounded by media. This was the only place where the media seemed to be actually reporting. Again the media outnumbered regular folk by a large factor. When I was there last night there were many mourners.
All the parking lots where I saw police equipment staged Saturday morning and and again around 4 am Sunday are now empty and filled with regular cars.
Today the police's main task seems to be keeping the media in check. In my opinion, it is time for the media to leave and let us go on with what we need to do.

Impeach/imprison and dump one assumes?

(17,434 posts)I find your remark a bit insensitive, but I'm rather touchy right now.
We are grieving the loss of one of our own. People need to deal with this without cameras stuck in their face.
Dumping tRump was and is a priority.

If offends me too.

(2,149 posts)Give them the space and privacy to deal with the aftermath, and tear down the statue of Lee. It doesn't belong any more and they need to do things that will speed their own dealing with and healing. Don't need 4 cameras per face.

(28,120 posts)That's a relief, if so.
My son, a UVa alumnus, wants to take his g.f. down to show her Charlottesville and UVa's campus next weekend. Was worried for them that it'd be a bit soon. (They're a mixed race couple and that'd really trigger those racist monsters).

(17,434 posts)Among the **RUMORS** is one that says there is at least one group riding round harassing people from a pickup truck with flags, but this was around midnight Sunday, early morning Monday.
Duppers, if you want, PM me here later in the week to remind me, and I'll respond with what I've been seeing. TJ works night shift at the UVa hospital a couple of blocks from The Corner, so she'll also have some knowledge about what's going on as well. Except for this past Friday night the UVa end of town has been chill. My gut feeling is that it will be normal.
I went to UVA as did all of my siblings.
