First residential helipad coming to western Loudoun?

My father's family is from out around Purcellville and Hillsboro. I guess that area is going to turn into Fairfax County West.

So I Google, and I find this. What a shock: Bush* visit highlights JK's success story

{Bush's} visit showcased JK as what small businesses can become under American free enterprise and why people all over the world envy the opportunities available for those who work hard and take on responsibility. It's why people want to emigrate to America, {Bush} explained.

"We're the only country in the world that makes it easy for individuals to own something whether it be their own home or their own company," said Mr. Bush.

First residential helipad coming to western Loudoun?

Wednesday, Jul. 23, 2014 by Crystal Owens, Times-Mirror Staff Writer

The CEO of Sterling-based JK Moving Services has submitted a special exception application for permission to build a helipad on his 540-acre Egypt Farm in Purcellville.

If accepted, the 6,000-square-foot helipad, located at 20598 Watermill Road, would be the first residential-owned helipad in rural western Loudoun County. ... Only two others exist in the county – one at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne and another in Bluemont, which is owned by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Chuck Kuhn told the Washington Business Journal he intends to use the helipad to fly his Eurocopter EC130 to JK's Gaithersburg offices, Richmond, Philadelphia and New York, cities he often visits for business.
....

In comments left on the planning website that describes the application, neighbors' comments have been mostly negative. ... The application will go through two public hearings with the county's planning commission and Board of Supervisors before a decision is made.

There's noisy opposition to Chuck Kuhn's proposed Purcellville heliport

Chuck Kuhn has landed in a doozy of a fight.

The heliport that Kuhn, president and CEO of JK Moving Services, has proposed to build on his Loudoun County farm will spook horses, lower property values, damage the environment and torpedo the community's tranquil nature, its opponents say.

Within hours of posting our initial story on the heliport, more than a half dozen Purcellville and Philomont residents posted their vocal opposition on Loudoun's website. A Twitter account was established, @WLoudounPeace, as was a Facebook page.

A request to establish a private helipad on a large estate near Philomont is drawing opposition from neighbors.

Chuck Kuhn, the president and CEO of Sterling-based JK Moving Services, wants permission to fly his helicopter to and from his 540-acre Egypt Farm property. The application was formally accepted for review last week.

Chuck Kuhn’s western Loudoun heliport approved

Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 by Ben Hancock

It’s official. Western Loudoun will see its first residential heliport on Chuck Kuhn's Egypt Farm in Philomont.

Loudoun's Board of Supervisors voted 8-1 to approve the motion Feb. 18, with Supervisor Janet Clarke (R-Blue Ridge) opposed.

The special exception allows Kuhn to build a helipad and hanger out of an existing barn on the facility and will extend the hours he can fly into and out of his property, while limiting him to 10 visits in and out a week.

Kuhn is the president and CEO at JK Moving. He has said he will mostly use the helicopter to fly into major cities for business trips.
