Personally I've always found it confusing that these true-believers draw so much on the Old Testament biblical statements full of anger and righteous wrath and yet claim to be "Christians". The whole point of Christ's existence and sacrifice was, simply put, that God had got it wrong by being the super controlling parent and was trying a more persuasive and forgiving way to reach humans.

As for Matt Schaefer, he is a fully paid up shill for Big Oil and will say anything that lines his pockets, or in this case what will terrorize the Republican fools in HD6 in Smith County, Texas. His voting record is proof he has nothing whatever to do with Christ's philosophy of love and tolerance.

7. When I Was Young

I remember running into evangelical born again end of times folks. This was back in the late 70s. They gave me a comic book basically going through the end times. There were panels in that book about how Satan would make Christians "turn away from the book". I distinctly remember thinking to myself that Satan was so tricky how would you know you were turning your back on God?

The acceptance and promotion by most evangelicals of TFG, with all the naked adultery, gluttony, lying and such pretty much convinced me that Satan is indeed a tricky entity.
