64 Texans were charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. A year later, here's where things stand.

Thousands ventured to Washington on a brisk January day last year motivated in many cases by the lie that Joe Biden unlawfully seized the 2020 election from the unconceding incumbent. To date, 64 Texans have been charged with joining the mob of Trump supporters that stormed the U.S. Capitol last Jan. 6, as lawmakers carried out the typically ceremonial process of confirming the outcome of a presidential election.

More may be on the way, as well, as Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday vowed the Justice Department would take as “long as it takes and whatever it takes for justice to be done."

"The Justice Department remains committed to holding all January 6th perpetrators, at any level, accountable under law — whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy," Garland said in a speech marking the one-year anniversary of the riot. "We will follow the facts wherever they lead."

Here’s what we know so far about the Texas contingent accused in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol melee.

Texas Anglos have a history of rebelling when their idea of white supremacy is challenged. (rebelling against Mexico and then the United States when their precious peculiar institution of slavery was challenged). I advise watching ones back when it comes to Texas.
