Water bottle with 'suspicious' note prompts bomb scare at Dallas police headquarters
A water bottle with a note attached to it prompted a bomb scare at the Dallas police headquarters Monday morning.
About 9 a.m., police said, a mail courier spotted the suspicious glass bottle near the front door of the Jack Evans Police Headquarters and reported it to the building's security officers. Police evacuated the front lobby and asked people to move away from the front door.
The note on the bottle was "attached in such a way that it caused further suspicion," Assistant Police Chief Randy Blankenbaker said later at a news conference.
People were initially instructed to move away from the north side of the building as a precaution. Lamar and Belleview streets were shut down for more than two hours while authorities examined the bottle.
