In 2 cases, Texans admit preparing false tax returns, costing U.S. $1.6M in all
A Dallas man and Greenville woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in unrelated tax-fraud cases that together cost the U.S. $1.6 million in lost revenue, officials announced.
Lourdes Ramirez of Greenville pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false returns that cost the government about $1.2 million in tax losses, U.S. Attorney John R. Parker of the Northern District of Texas said in a prepared statement.
Ramirez, 39, was a tax preparer operating as TX ASAP Tax Services and Fiesta Tax Service in Greenville, according to court documents.
She admitted to preparing and filing about 1,160 bogus returns for clients from 2011 to 2014. She said the returns were manipulated to produce inflated refunds. They included false business income and losses, and false credits and deductions
