Several gruesome murders take place over weekend in Juárez

Presented as a reminder to anyone going to Mexico over Spring Break.

The violence continued in Juárez over the weekend and today with a woman found slain, two police officers killed and the public display of the mutilated body of a man who had a Texas identification card, the Chihuahua state prosecutor's office said Monday.

The man's severed head was found Sunday afternoon on a bus-stop bench near Avenida Ramon Rayon in the Zaragoza area, officials said. The rest of the body was later found cut into pieces inside two bags left in the Morelos Zaragoza area.

Along with the body parts, investigators found a pair of black jeans, a shirt, a wallet and a Texas identification card with the name Eder Vidana Solis. A prosecutor's office spokesman said Monday the dead man had not been formally identified because no one had come to claim the body.

The gruesome incident was one of six homicides Sunday in Juárez, including two police officers killed in an afternoon street shooting that wounded two other men in the Rancho Anapra area. The officers were identified as Jose Alfredo Delgado Acosta, 39, and Armando Muñoz Quiroz, 35.
