Dems pushing DREAM Act vote

Texas Democrats want to know what their voters think of the DREAM Act.

Along with a raft of local, state and federal contests on this year's primary ballot, the party is asking Democratic voters to vote on a non-binding resolution in favor of the DREAM Act.

The act, which has failed in Congress, would provide a path to citizenship for potentially thousands of high school graduates who are in the country illegally.

The referendum reads: “Any graduate of a Texas high school, who has lived in the state for at least three years and lived here continuously for the last year, should be eligible for in-state tuition at state supported colleges and universities and given the opportunity to earn legal status through a higher education or military service.”
