Sen. Patty Mur­ray (D-WA) en­dorsed former gubernat­ori­al chief of staff Katie Mc­Ginty (D) in her three-way Demo­crat­ic primary, fo­cus­ing on Pennsylvania’s history of nev­er hav­ing sent a wo­man to the Sen­ate.

In a fun­drais­ing email, Mur­ray wrote: “I was the first fe­male sen­at­or ever elec­ted from Wash­ing­ton state, and I cer­tainly un­der­stand the chal­lenges wo­men face in polit­ics today. … I know the dif­fer­ence wo­men can make when we get in­volved and fight to make a dif­fer­ence. … Katie is run­ning to be­come the first fe­male sen­at­or from Pennsylvania, and I’m sup­port­ing her be­cause I need her help in Wash­ing­ton.”
