Related: About this forumFUCK showing ID at the polls. I refused today and still got to vote.
If you haven't voted, just say no when they ask you for ID.
We need to work to get this revoked before November. It is disenfranchisement in red letters on the side of a GoodYear blimp. No, no, and no.

(24,397 posts)If you're a middle- or senior-aged white guy, they may have let you through. What happens if you're a minority or a student?

(47,675 posts)I never understood why you are required to prove your a U.S. Citizen just to vote in U.S. elections.

(6,819 posts)The poll workers were actually doing everyone a favor by asking for ID this time, when it was not required. Hopefully the law suit will be successful to at least delay the law until after November. However, IF the law is in effect in November, it is great that some people had a warning this time.

(18,219 posts)none of the poll workers asked me for ID. They did hand me a piece of paper with the new rules for November, but they did not ask. In the paper today, they said that there was only one person in our county who objected---but I figure that was the only person that the poll workers reported.
I was disappointed in not being able to express my disgust with this new law, but then I figured that it is possible that the poll workers I had were also not fans so were not going to harass people until it is law to do so.

(18,219 posts)The parking lot just had the few poll worker cars in it, not another soul there but poll workers from when I walked in to when I left. Really a sad commentary on US voters.

(17,608 posts)A poll worker's day is long enough and hard enough (especially in a high turnout election like November will be), that they don't need this unnecessary bullsh*t.
I speak as one who's been there, and have also spoken to current pollworkers (many republicans).

I heard on NPR a spokesman of the ACLU saying that protesting this requirement at the polls is NOT helpful. They prefer that you help get the word out about it. We need people to be able to vote in November, even if this law is still in place.

(18,219 posts)In the end, we need people to know that they will need ID at the polls. And we need to start that process right now for people who do not have photo ID already, because they are playing games with timetables for required documents already. It will only get worse.
And since so few people voted in the primary, and even fewer Dems, they will not have been made aware of this.

It is quite likely that the Republicans who are running PA were counting on a low voter turnout in the primary.

(20,453 posts)Be sure to report general primary problems with election fraud.
I just poll watched and witness pole workers (some new, some not, and a judge who should have known better) let people pick their party on the iVotronics screen before voting.
As a result, the number of registered R and D's didn't match. I called them on it, and they looked blankly at me.
This is happened when VOTER fraud IS NOT. We are looking at the wrong fraud.
Please follow through with all your complaints if you experienced this.... I can't be seeing this alone in PA.
