A Republican congressional candidate in North Carolina said he had no problem going to war with Mexico over allegations undocumented immigrants are tied to the drug trade, in video posted by the Daily Kos.

“I will tell you If you have foreigners who are sneaking in with drug cartels to me that is a national threat,” Mark Walker says in footage from a June 26 speech to a Tea Party group in Rockingham County. “And if we got to go laser or blitz somebody with a couple of fighter jets for a little while to make our point, I don’t have a problem with that either. So yeah, whatever you need to do.”

At one point, the moderator told Walker, “I hope you wouldn’t have any qualms about starting up a little war with Mexico.”

“I think the question was would I sign something,” Walker said. “I don’t have a piece of legislation right now, quite yet, to do so. But if it’s something that comes across, I’m on record of signing.”
