One of the most shameful things I've seen since the Tealiban took over NC...

THE MAN IS A VETERAN. He's elderly, harmless, and was only there to exercise his constitutional rights -- the ones HE fought for for himself and the rest of us.

For better impact:

The Republican Party
=
The Taliban

(sorry, the text should be centered, but I cannot get DU's to render it as centered)

The equal sign is too long and doesn't look like an equal sign, and why give them the satisfaction of being like something "American".

Yes, this is shameful and our state is pretty much doomed. As the unrest escalates, so will police suppression.

I have said it before, and will say it again, we live in a de facto police state.

The bravery of an elderly disabled person who could be injured by overzealous police allowing himself to be arrested (plus the energy of walking all the way there and back) is wonderful to behold. I was in that area last night (couldn't attend, but driving by) and I was literally in tears, watching all of the senior citizens walking from miles away to the protest.

I never thought to see NC progressives mobilize this quickly and passionately, and we have those maniacs to thank, because in the grip of the mainstream DINOs of this state (who happily screwed over one of the most progressive anti-bank politicians in the country to keep their DLC buddy in one more term), we were going nowhere.

It's politics like this, nationwide, that will sweep Elizabeth Warren in, despite the vote-rigging that will be attempted against her.

Thank God for this brave man and so many like him. And thank God for the attitude on the part of that cop, who you can tell dislikes having to arrest someone of his caliber and is treating him with respect.

And most especially, I thank God that this movement in NC is being spearheaded by BLACK CHURCHES. Amazing, isn't it?

We have had no issue in NC with abusive cops even with all these protests (none that I know of). I know Rev Barber tells folks to respect them. They're just doing their job, and they're not the problem, anyway. Those causing the problems are in the legislature & gov office.

and one that might get through to the Malleable Middle (and Lord knows they need to be gotten through to!). Contrary to what the wingnuts spew, Moral Mondays isn't just for minorities, hipsters, union thugs, and aging hippies.

Newspaper? TV? This photo should be distributed everywhere. Most people (with a few ugly exceptions) would be deeply affected by this.
