Oops! Thruway overbilled 35,000 EZ-Pass customers

Joseph Spector

About 35,000 E-Z Pass customers who entered the state Thruway northbound from Route 17 in Woodbury, Orange County, were overbilled for nearly a month, the state Thruway Authority revealed today.

The Thruway Authority announced that it pinpointed the error that led to the overbilling at the Harriman toll barrier at Exit 16 and corrected the problem. Those affected will be credited automatically on their next E-Z Pass statements, the agency that runs the 570-mile thoroughfare said in a statement obtained by Gannett’s Albany Bureau.
