Spitzer's Campaign Says It Collected Signatures Needed For Comptroller Bid

Eliot Spitzer says he has collected more than 27,000 signatures for his campaign for City Comptroller, which is well above the 3,750 signatures needed to get on the ballot.

Spitzer had been collecting signatures since Monday.

The deadline to submit the petitions was midnight Thursday.

"I just want to first and foremost thank the citizens of New York who have signed," Spitzer said. "I want to say that it is an important statement to those who said it was not possible, in the course of three-and-a-half days, to get enough signatures to get a candidate on the ballot."

but frankly, if the people want to elect him, there are far worse people for the job.
