Re: abortion - The most immediate solution is the Florida Supreme Court. So... we're fucked, right?

The most immediate solution we have to the abortion dilemma we find ourselves in against Republicans is the Florida Supreme Court.

More long term, I remember reading that a group (or groups) were working on getting an abortion rights amendment on the ballot in 2024. I haven't heard any updates since I read about it last year so I don't know whether or not that will ultimately be on the 2024 ballot.

However, in the near future with the hand that we've been dealt, does anyone have some hope in the Florida Supreme Court of maintaining state constitutional protections of abortion?

In the form of online sites that mail abortion pills. Located in blue states or in other countries. I follow an abortion forum (pro-choice) and that seems how most women are getting the pills - no appointments, no wait times (except waiting for the mail) and fairly inexpensive.

2016 with Hillary

2022 with the governor's race, and supreme court elections for 5 of the 7 justices.

If the Florida Supreme Court doesn't uphold its precedent protecting abortion, the only other option is a citizen ballot initiative. If that's not being worked on right now, then the soonest it'll could likely be on the ballot is 2026.
