It won't be cold down here until Tues and I'm hoping that will change.

Of course, cold is relative. I've sure there are people in other parts of the country that are thinking "oh, cry me a river" when I say we are going to have a high of 59 on Tuesday.

59 degrees would have me in shorts and a T-shirt right about now. It all relative.

I'm ready.

It's easy to joke about Florida cold, but people don't realize that many of the houses and heating systems in Central Florida and south aren't built for anything below 40° F. The cold feels different, too, at least to me. Thirty-five degrees feels colder in Florida than in, say, Ohio.

That said, I'm not going to complain. Not after the ice storms and below-zero stuff that our northern friends are experiencing.

I live in a cement block house built in 1963 and the outside walls aren't
insulated. Few were back then. The attic is but that's as far as they went.

Pinellas County. The surrounding waters tend to insulate us a bit. But we did have snow in '77 (as did Miami).

moved here from Pennsylvania and I'll take the 2 weeks of cold (40 to 50 degrees) and no snow to the 2 to 4 months of bone-shaking winter complete with hip high snow in the North. But, gotta admit, I do miss the snow sometime and the changing of the leaves.

But, nothing-I guess-can beat Australian heat. Look how these poor candles are suffering
