The actor, screenwriter, producer, & director, Max Baer Jr. was #BornOnThisDay, Dec. 4, 1937. Known for playing "Jethro" on The #Beverly #Hillbillies. Baer wrote & produced the film, Macon County Line (1974). Made for only US $1.1 million, it grossed over $30 million! #birthday

to win the heavyweight championship — making him The Cinderella Man, according to Damon Runyon. Ron Howard chose to portray Baer as a womanizing brute in the movie. Baer did accidentally kill a man in the ring, and was happy go lucky, but he was generally considered a nice guy.

Braddock defended the title only once, losing to Joe Louis in June 1937.

I read that when James Garner left the Rockford Files, they considered Max as his replacement. I think it would have worked.
