I have added a new link for a FEATURED slideshow.
As often as possible we visit a local park less than two miles from home. There are a number of dead pines that are a favorite perch for Doves and todays Featured, the Vulture.
I have been surprised at how family and friends hate this, my latest project, not looking at the art of the photo but recoiling at the subject. I find them beautiful in their own way, and hope you will enjoy these few photos. The next Featured will be another bird that we see just as often, in the same setting, the Dove.
Go full screen and check it out here!

(86,584 posts)A few days ago during the beginning of the last snow event. We got a fresh blast of winter this past week so all the migrating birds are probably miserable.
I'd rather have the vultures, we have a situation where the rock doves are invading the habitat of mourning doves around here. I prefer the indigenous species, the rock doves make horrid sounds and are as messy and ubiquitous as pigeons.
