In the thread "Past Photography Contest Themes and Winners" I wish they would put the winning picture up along with the theme and and other info that is posted. For a newer member it would be nice to see the pictures since photos is what we are all about.

(17,086 posts)It probably hasn't happened because all the photos are hosted on personal accounts, which may or may not endure.
Maybe the photo group should consider having its own photobucket account, with the passwords held by group hosts?

(74 posts)But we could at least try. This was the first thread I visited as a new member and was really disappointed when I found no pictures there. It's a locked thread so I am hoping the moderator/group leader will consider this.

(17,086 posts)We'll have to kick it around and see what's what. Welcome to the group!

(8,039 posts)up on someone smugmug account. But then they left and eventually they got rid of their smugmug account. I never thought about making a photobucket account for them and doubt we could find all the past winners photos. What we did find is some people were not pleased to have their photos go elsewhere while other didn't mind. I would say if anyone is interested in setting it up, keeping it up and making sure they have the permissions needed it is a good idea and worth trying.

You'll find I'm more of a still life photographer. I create my subject, then I photograph it. I do a lot of bird photos as well. People are generally outside my comfort zone, but I do try. I like playing around with water. I learn mainly by trial and error, with emphasis on error. I make a lot of those. A win always surprises me.
If I could be any three people in the group, I would want to be a combination of Mira, alfredo, and Mz Pip. alfredo for his people/candid photos, Mz Pip for her landscapes, and Mira for her eye for color and light - her photos are a celebration of both.
I miss Callalily and Celebration. They both do great work.
I miss JeffR. He died recently. Still feels recent anyway. His work was sublime.
Now I'm sad.

My first win. I'm a groundhog baby, so winning the February contest with "Shadow" as the theme was very special.

A Drop of Spring
2013 - June - HDR
Soar!
2013 - November - Metaphor Abstract
Winter's Dance
2014 - February - Based on a Song

(74 posts)I especially love winters dance. It is a shame we can't see all the winners. Even a lot of links would be a great 2nd option. Just add the link to the winners name. If the photo is no longer there so be it, it's still better than what we have now.

(18,219 posts)I wonder if linking to the threads announcing the winners would work. I understand that it would be more work to see all the winning photos, but at least it would still be manageable.
ETA Welcome to the photography group, and to DU. Hope to see lots of your photos.....we love photos!
