Rainy day classic cars

Small car show at our Dorffest, village festival, I think the numbers were down because of the rain.
These ones get driven and not owned by the trailer and QTip crowd.

Chevy Impala

GMC pickup

No cupholders visable

Dodge Charger r/t

Kinda surprised with the new dash and gauges it still had the original steering column. IMO most of the
50s & 60s pickups are more comfortable to drive with a tilt wheel. I know my '54 Ford was.

Everyone tried to talk him into getting one of those small chrome chain steering wheels.
His response was "no power steering NO WAY I'm getting rid of the big steering wheel!!!"

Right decision.

Power steering by Armstrong.
The large wheel gives good leverage.
Also the 10 turns lock to lock

Probably not run that often or long on the autobahn either.

Still, it's fun to see the old carriages being well maintained.

was rates at between 9 adn 12 mpg. at the time. In European terms 25-28 liters per 100 KM.
At Euro 1.9 / liter about $8 per gallon, you could be looking at $1.00 per mile for gas.

Undoubtably it is used once in a while for show and picnics.

of the paint job. It worked nice with the silly little running board they had on it also.

Never a big fan of running boards, myself.
Although with my arthritis they sometimes help on my Avalanche.

but if it is indeed a 69 R/T it came with a 427 4bbl.
It was pretty mean. Drum brakes on all four corners also....
So it would have been a real handful for the uninitiated.

16. Thought my buddies '69 Charger (318) had front disc brakes

Checked on rockauto, they listed parts for both drum and disc brakes on the front, so disc was probably an
option that year.

17. The site I saw

showed drums.
Discs were some fancy stuff for US cars back then. I didn't check to see what this one had.

I know my Datsun roadster had front discs. No power assist. You had to use them with authority.
