Red admiral butterfly

There was a red admiral on the lilac bush yesterday, but it flitted about and didn’t light on a flower long enough to get a shot. I sat by the lilac this afternoon and waited. After a half hour or so, a red admiral arrived and I got this shot.

Kind of a misnomer. A touch of orange on a background of brown makes a Red Admiral? Martin68 Apr 29 #11

We were in Australia many years ago and my husband was off taking pictures while I relaxed by the pool in a bright colored swim suit. A Ulysses butterfly landed on my hip and rested there for a while before flying away.

Alas, no picture.

The Ulysses are magnificent creatures of which I've only seen photos. Photos are second hand. You have an indelible memory that has stayed with you for all these many years.

Instant gratification leaves one wanting for more.

I've found that people tend not to value what they don't pay for, whether the payment's in $$$ or in patience, self discipline and sacrifice.
