I'd love to hear the story. Were you working in a blind?

Inquiring minds and all that!

I go out every morning and on that morning I went to an area I haven't been to in years. I am a sitter when I shoot. I want photos of wildlife doing what they do when they think they are alone. With a camo cover I drape over myself I sat on the edge of this field and waited like usual. After about 45 minutes I saw the bobcat coming toward me. When the cat was just opposite me I said "Chipp, Chipp" and the cat turned in my direction. That is when I started taking photos. The bobcat got very curious as it could not see me but heard the camera shutter going. Out of curiosity it came closer and closer until it was about 10' away and then, turned, and sauntered off.
It was a great morning and the whole process was repeated a couple of weeks later.

I do have a blind but now I always use a lenscoat camo cover over me because it is a quick setup and I can just stuff it in my pack.
The whole trick is not moving at all. My motto is Get there before they do, See them before they see me, and Don't Move.
When I first started taking wildlife photos I used to post them here a lot under the name Bonhomme Richard.
