REALLY off topic!

I am sticking to a well-regimented course of ice packs and two types of pain killers* to keep the pain at bay.

When it works, it's great. When I miss a dose, or it's late, then the pain increases.

So I'm motivated to keep to my schedule!

*1 gram Tylenol and 1 200mg ibuprofen. Every four hours for each; every two hours alternating.

Pain sucks!

Thanks to all of you, and especially to Callalily for coming to my rescue!

That is the plan! My MD says I'll be sore for several weeks but hopefully not this sore!

It can mess up your stomach. Hopefully fruit or something good for you will work. IANAM (not a medic) but know what IBU can do.

Take care.

I am mostly eating normally, but lesser amounts. Too much activity and I get a little nauseated. Ick.

The pain is coming from my right upper flank--below my shoulder blade and above my hip on the right side. That was the point of contact with the bookcase.

When the meds are all on board, I feel so much better. But of course it fluctuates.

No need to be in pain when you don't have too.

I sure hope that you get to feeling better soon!

And it's my pleasure to step in for the photo contest. Your job right now is to get better!

Today I am writing down when I take whichever drug. It's easier to remember when it's been written down!

Nurses, even retired ones, know how and when to chart!

had a similar fall a few years ago. Didn’t get an X-ray for well over a month and the pain got worse and then the foot in a certain area started turning red. I kept after him to go get it checked (I was afraid he had a blood clot) and when he did, he found out he had broken his foot. I don’t know how he walked on it for so long. He had to wear a boot from April to early July. The orthopedic doctor said had he come in sooner he wouldn’t have had to wear the boot as long. He said he likely had a hairline fracture at first, but kept walking on it until it broke.

And I have been in touch with my doctor. My foot is fine; it's used to twisting! The pain is in my right flank/back, where I collided with the bookcase.

I appreciate your input!
