I don't really celebrate any of the holidays but some of the music is spectacular and I look forward to it when it comes around. I have never seen the Nutcracker ballet or movie, I just know the music and I have recordings of the suite in numerous ensembles like a tuba orchestra, Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn arrangements, Mandolin Orchestra and LA Guitar Quartet and I love them all.
Here's a very small taste for your listening pleasure. Please add your favorite holiday music whatever the genre!

And then...
Happy Hollydaze Y'all.

(16,847 posts)I like his whole album of Christmas music, but I've always thought Blue Christmas was the best Christmas song.

(86,671 posts)I have to hear the Nutcracker Suite at least three or four times during December or something's not right. But that is also true of the Vince Guaraldi Trio Peanuts set and a couple other works. Everything else is fluff. But there is a set of songs from the 50s and 60s that will always remind me of my earliest Christmases that were kind of magical for a kid.
And I am not fond of December without snow either.

(24,746 posts)Duke and Vincent came up on my Spotify Christmas jazz playlist.
I have Nutcracker loaded up on the computer player.
I hear you about snow. Raining and 35 here right now. Christmas has always been our big snow week of the year. We have myths and legends of deep cold winters going back the 30 years we've lived on our small mountain acreage!
