Help Me -- Joni Mitchell

"Help Me" is a love song written, produced, and performed by Joni Mitchell, from her 1974 album Court and Spark. The song was recorded with jazz band Tom Scott's L.A. Express as the backing band.[1] "Help Me" was Mitchell's biggest hit single: it peaked at #7 in June 1974 on the Billboard Hot 100, her only top 10 hit; it hit #1 on the easy listening chart.[2]

The song is ranked #288 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.[3]

It rings like a bell.
I had several of her albums, and I think her best was the album, "Blue".

I used to do a couple covers from it. Now I use "Help Me" as my test at the end of a two hour vocal exercise session. I have to be able to perform it without more than two mistakes, including lyrics. My workouts are pretty intense and I try not be anywhere that others can hear me, but if they do, at least I have some good tunes for them to endure.

was Big Yellow Taxi and then Woodstock. After that she was on James Taylor albums and I had access to her other early albums. Being a vocalist then, I was smitten. I have a huge range and was thrilled that there was music to accommodate that, new music and I had half of her catalogue memorized at one point.

I still perform when asked to and I wouldn't hesitate to perform any of her music.

I would enjoy that very much. I've always been envious of my friends who can sing well or who can play a musical instrument.

it's pretty close to mine. Even though I have mastered the vocals end of music, I still can't play any instruments well enough to pass an audition.
