(18,816 posts)And Townsend is actually one of the best guitar players of a generation. That wasn't a cheap guitar he smashed either. If indeed it was a Gibson Hummingbird, he spent about $4,000 to be on the show, something he didn't feel like doing at their Superbowl appearance with a billion people watching.
Considering his overgrown ego and lack of regard to the fans, he can wish himself a happy birthday. I hope he has many more.

(2,892 posts)I saw this show when it was on originally because how do you forget the "whammy bar" story?
Pete seems like a really fun guy. I'm more into his solo music than the music of The Who for whatever reason. I like The Who but I don't think I ever bought any music of theirs except one album that I bought for my Brother's Christmas Present.
Odd memory from High School, my Art teacher took our class in the daytime on a field trip to see the movie "Tommy". 1975, I would have been a freshman. The 70's were weird. I was looking up which album I had bought for my brother and it was "The Who by Numbers". Looking through The Who discography I remember I had indeed purchased an 8-track tape of "Who Are You" for myself. CA-CHUNK!
