more about reduced scale pianos.

if anyone is interested- there's a fb group for this and i found someone who does retrofits.
i posted a thread there looking for a mechanic who can do this. a guy popped up, offering to do the job.
tho he is in oregon, but said he will travel to pick up and deliver anywhere.
he says he’s going to b in chgo this week. i cant let the antique beauty i’m looking at out of my sight. but anyone considering this shd check him out.
he buys old pianos and retrofits them. i’ve referred him to a moving company here that has a ‘piano orphanage’. no idea what they charge, tho they arent stupid. but they get them for free.
dont know about other places but u can get a free piano here any day of the week and twice on sundays.
if anyone is looking, i’d b happy to b a go-between. or contact them directly.

I have a 1918 Gulbransen player piano that I bought when we moved to the Chicago area in the mid-1990s. Hanging above it is my maternal grandmother's 1918 nursing school diploma. I like having those 2 antiques together.

It does require a full stretch from thumb to pinky.

When trying to play Scott Joplin rags, there are lots of octave note pairings, and I often wished for pinky fingers that were just a 1/4 inch longer so it would be a little easier.

My piano is from a company called Pickle Pianos in Bloomingdale IL. They chose that odd name because to pickle means to preserve -

Here is one of their current offerings - absolutely gorgeous!

i sorta feel about pianos the way a lot of ppl feel about dogs, tho.
there r so many homeless pianos out there. some need a lot of rehab, but some just need a little tlc.

i think it will b a go. the only question is if i can get my ex to pay for it. lol.
he sorta owes me, and there’s some stuff around here he wants. and that i want to get rid of. the plague kicked my ass, but blessed his. pretty sure the judge wd give it to me. our deal was a ‘rehabilitative maintenance’. the music thing is new since then. i cd prolly make a few bucks singing, and cd def make some good money doing events. so…
the kids will inherit it, too. like the rest of this life i’ve held onto mostly for them.
