He left the band when they gave him heat over being sick & distracted by his dissolving marriage. Randy never liked touring. It was tough on him mentally & physically, all the way back to when he played with Ricky Nelson.
Weird part is, that needing someone else with that high, clear voice & great falsetto, they replaced him with Tim Schmidt. Schmidt replaced Randy in Poco when he left to join The Eagles.
Their careers were on sequential paths.
