Thank you to anyone who looks at this. Very grateful for any critiques.
I just keep playing with my soft pastels, trying to learn and get better.

Id say you definitely have the technique and the talent. This is just beautiful.

(6,903 posts)I'm not sure I agree. the black and the brown used are both in the image, and the combination makes me feel as if I am coming out of a cave to that scene, and I find that uplifting.
There are many ways of selecting matting and framing, and they are not always equally good, but sometimes they are good for different purposes. If the artist wanted to make the image look bigger, you are correct - that combo doesn't to that.

Because I can put things together in a pleasing visual.
When I sold my last house, the gal who bought it asked me who staged my
home for sale. I was surprised and said, I didn't stage it. This is just how
my house looks. She couldn't believe it.
That said, I am not near as good a professional designer of course.

(11,564 posts)The composition and colours are perfect. It's not at all hard for me to look at it and see it as one of my wife's....which, for me, is high praise indeed. When she finished high school, she was tracked down and recruited by an art college. She declined, in favour of social work, which she also loved. Still does.
She has a little niche now, doing the occasional commission, selling a piece here and there through businesses willing to hang them, but her main source of (admittedly small) revenue is pet portraits.
I say the foregoing as a way of underlining my assertion that comparing your work to hers is not a pedestrian, half-baked compliment.. Nice work!!!

(4,279 posts)of the same color! How do you get so many shades of GREEN in one painting? Amazing.
Idiot question coming up...
This is one of a kind painting, if someone offered a gazillion dollars, is there anyway you could reproduce this? Or even close?
I say there is no way. Hence the idiot question.
