Introduction from SMS Cohen
It was suggested that I come here to introduce myself.
My user name is SMSc Cohen, but you you can called me SMS. 
I am probably on the older side of the DU. A true baby boomer, very much influenced by the threat of nuclear war; a kid growing up in a "Golden Ghetto" of upper-middle class luxury, a person influenced by the civil rights movement; and as an older person, a woman trying to understand and relate to Gen X and Millennials.
And please excuse me if I say things that insult you or others in my posts. Some things are too ingrained to change easily at my age.

I really appreciate your words of welcome. I really needed them, 
you sound like you will fit right in and don't worry, there are plenty of geezers here LOL
And I'm sure you'll fit in just fine. If you read enough threads, you'll see comments on how DU "skews older," but we're all here for the same reason, to keep up on what's going on in the country and the world - and, these days, to find a little sanctuary from the craziness that's taken over since November. We're glad to have you join us!
There are loads of baby boomers here! My advice about potential insults: when in doubt, DON'T. Also, nothing wrong with a heartfelt apology when needed. I've done it many times. Now, post a photo of your cat! We love critters.
