I really liked it but I thought a lot of it was terrifying. Maybe I was too young -- I can't remember when I read it.

It's been several decades since I read the book. I saw the title of this thread and what popped into my mind was "Camazotz" -- and, with that name, a slight tremor of fear, after all these years, and the memory of the peril to Meg's little brother.

This movie actually looks like it might be worth seeing. That shot with the weird kids in the parallel universe doing the same thing on the street is EXACTLY the way I pictured it as a kid.

Yes it was. And it still is. One of my beloved childhood books, that I have read and re-read countless times. I still have my copy, given to me by my mom in the early 1960s.

I have always thought it would make a fabulous movie. It would certainly lend itself perfectly to special effects. Because I have read it so many times, I have created specific images in my mind that will undoubtedly differ completely from how things will be portrayed in the movie.

And I tried a couple of times. Maybe I wasn't into sci-fi or fantasy much then.
