Is there a video on this?
Hubby is in kitchen mad as hell at the SW roll every night. We've got mucho snow right now or I'd run right out and buy another roll...

(17,230 posts)... he married his g/f shortly after they graduated HS, and wore himself out trying to get her pregnant (guy must have lost twenty pounds exercising). Turned out his sperm count was too low to do the job.

(6,261 posts)... I'm reminded of the story about the guy trying to get out of the draft by having all his teeth pulled. He confidently, though inarticulately, explained this scheme to the next fellow in line, chuckling. He was turned down for flat feet.
I'm not sure of the connection either.

(35,804 posts)I don't blame him. I have some, but it's not worth the fight.
First, though, if you really want some in your cabinet, buy the more expensive brands.
Second, buy some of those elastic band covers. They're like bonnets and you just pop them over the dish.
Truth is, though, the best way to store food is to cut it off completely from air and you do need SW to do that. I mold mine around the food to cut it off from oxygen.

(206,601 posts)You can seal anything, a plate, a dish. It really sticks but it doesn't get tangled, more paper than plastic. Though I mainly use it in the microwave...

(206,601 posts)You can stick it on bowls or plates that you want to put in the fridge, it seals very well. Though I have wrapped up a sandwich that I needed scissors to get out, LOL. But I mainly use it to cover things I put in the microwave- plates, bowls, it seals so well things heat better. And it never seems to run out! I've bought a new roll thinking I needed more and I think I have three now...

(6,136 posts)It doesn't work on metal, but it sticks well to anything else. Tangling is rare.

(9,808 posts)Stick a strip of packing tape to the known edge, if you have a known edge. Use that to unwrap, with one person holding the taped end and the other person holding the roll, walking backwards. When it's rolling clean, you're good to go. Just like with toilet paper, the wrap comes off the top of the roll, not from the bottom.
If you can't find an edge, you can also use packing tape to find an edge. Packing tape has a stronger adhesive than the self-sticking properties. Once you get some up, you can get the rest of it.
One question, though. He's mad at the wrap roll every night after he uses it, or tries to, and he's blaming you for screwing it up? If he's the one using it, this is his problem, and he doesn't get to blame someone else.

(1,642 posts)Lasts ten times as long as a mere pack of Saran. Thicker and less haphazardly sticky.
It's so strong, I use it as "stretch film" when packing things for shipment. Better than tape.
Peace.

Saran Wrap hates me just like it does your hubby.

(50,580 posts)Take the roll out of the box. Look at it to find the leading edge of the wrap, and which way the SW is winding. Put the roll in your lap or on the table so it winds toward you. Then just use your thumbs to push on the leading edge until it starts to curl up. Once it does, just work the wrap with your thumbs until the edge is completely free.

(17,342 posts)Get a 2000 sq ft roll for around $20.00.
Usually comes with a nice little plastic cutter on the box and it lasts for years.
You will never buy the supermarket stuff again.
